Meme on Reddit Diagnoses Testicular Cancer

Reddit is infamous as a tongue-in-cheek, NSFW, hilarious bookmarking site. It is full to the brim of images that are quickly snatched up by the likes of 9gag or Ebaumsworld. In fact, most of the funny viral content out there began its days on Reddit’s leaderboards.

It all began a few weeks ago when a guy was messing around at home, feeling bored and looking for an excuse not to have to play World Of Warcraft (or whatever he was into). He begins rummaging through his medicine cupboard and stumbles upon an unused pregnancy test, left over from his ex-girlfriend. Obviously, he decides the best thing to do would be to pee on it. Perhaps he liked peeing on things or perhaps he was just hopeful. Who knows.

Anyway, strangely enough, the test came back positive. Reeling with excitement, the guy calls his buddy and lets him know the good news. His friend, finding the whole thing hilarious, decided to make a Rage Comic (A style of Viral Comic that uses a certain number of characters) and stick it on Reddit.

The comic started trending, but not because of its hilarity. In fact, Redditors took a break from their usual trolling ways and began voicing concern.

“You may have testicular cancer! Get to an oncologist, tell them you took a pregnancy test and it came out positive,” one Redditor wrote.

Another wrote: “If this is true, you should check yourself for testicular cancer. Seriously. Google it.”

The friend began to get concerned and told his pee happy friend to book an appointment with an oncologist. It turns out the Redditors were right, he had a tumor in his right testicle.

True to form, the friend announced the news with another Rage Comic. Bless him.

News soon spread across the internet about the heroic efforts of Reddit and its users. This was the first time the site had ever been headlined in relation to medical marvels. Who’s to say social bookmarking may never cure a life-threatening, degenerative disease? I wouldn’t dare.
