Pinterest adds Business Profiles

Last Tuesday, image-sharing site Pinterest opened up its directory to allow businesses to take full advantage of the website’s ever-growing popularity.

Companies will now be able to open Business Accounts in their registered name while taking advantage of new widgets that connect their board to their website.  Verification is also a priority to stop individuals from taking on company names, an idea brought about by Twitter which now uses it mainly for celebrity profiles.

Businesses like Etsy and Jetsetter have been using Pinterest for a while now and to their benefit. The emergence of the sharing site has seen a surge in activity in the last 12 months.  Social Media Executives have to stay on the digital pulse and keep spreading their brand’s awareness over all up-and-coming platforms in order to not be left behind.

Remarkably, Pinterest was valued at $1.5 billion last May, a number set to increase dramatically in 2013.
