Sceptical advertisers avoid popular YouTube

Youtube logoYouTube has become the UK’s most popular site. The levels of engagement, pageviews and sense of community are growing by the day. Yet despite the video sharing site’s popularity with the public most companies are still hesitant to advertise. Why, you would ask? Still a mystery.

The problem with viral marketing is that people cannot see the full benefits. Advertising on YouTube is almost equal to being on TV. There is a great reach, various demographics and people interested in a particular niche are very easy to target.

Unfortunately with everything new comes a fear of change. With consumer trends evolving ever faster marketing teams need to keep up with the change and return to the creative ideas of the good old days. Because in the current climate if you are not out there selling and promoting, then where are you?

  1. YouTube is great but how affordable is video advertising? Sounds like a great way to spread your brand but is the price tag for a full viral worth it?
